Spanish wines from Alicante
Alicante – where ancient vintages meet modern tastes. For thousands of years, people have come to this Mediterranean region for its sun-warmed grapes and cool nights under the stars – perfect conditions for crafting some of Spain’s finest wines! Whether you’re looking for a smooth red or crisp white, Alicante’s mineral-rich soil is sure to produce something special that belongs in your collection. So raise a glass with us as we toast one of Europe’s premier wine regions: Salud y Amor from old Alicante!
Bodegas Pinoso was set up as a cooperative in 1932 and the work carried out in the vineyards faithfully respects the wine traditions of their wine producers.
The coming together and effort put in by the founding members of Bodegas Pinoso meant that the winery quickly became renowned for the quality of its wines. At the end of the 90’s the winery began to rethink its quality policy by designating the first areas of the winery land to be used for certified ecological vineyard plots. Nowadays, 50% of their vineyards are organic.
Vergel Red
This vibrant red wine is perfect for any occasion, whether you’re looking to impress your date or just enjoy a glass with your friends. The beautiful violet border and fruity aromas are sure to please, and the round, warm flavor is easy to drink and enjoyable from beginning to end.
Selected from the best organic grapes, the Monastrell and Merlot varieties are vinified in a traditional way and separately in order to extract the typical characteristics of each variety. The Merlot gives the blend aromas of pepper, black fruits and truffle, while the Monastrell gives the wine the warmth of our Mediterranean climate, making it fruity and smooth. The third variety that makes up this very special wine is Alicante Bouschet, also called Garnacha Tintorera, known for giving tannic wines and a very intense color. To extract as much fruit as possible, the grapes are harvested early and special yeasts are selected to support the fruity character of this variety. The skins and pips are macerated with the wine at low temperatures for a short period of time (as with rosé wines) so that the tannins are not excessive. The result is a wine with a fabulous ruby color accompanied by intense fruity aromas and soft ripe tannins.
